As a Practitioner.....

David is one of a few practitioners in Britain who are qualified* in both Herbal and Naturopathic medicine. David began his studies in 1969 and qualified as a medical herbalist in 1975..

David is an eclectic naturopath and, therefore, offers (and has experience with) a wide range of treatments developed over the years:

  • Herbal remedies (produced and dispensed individually i.e. tinctures, tablets, capsules, ointments, lotions, medicated shampoos, gargles/mouthwashes, liniments etc).
  • Nutritional (Food State rather than synthetic chemical equivalents)
  • Nutraceuticals (specific supplements for various conditions)
  • Homoeopathic Medicines
  • Electrotherapy (interferential, ultrasound, G5) for musculoskeletal conditions and pain relief. Electrotherapy is also indicated for a number of medical conditions, such as varicose veins and bowel problems, which also respond to soft tissue manipulation.
  • Health screening backed by full pathology (orthodox and naturopathic i.e. pinprick IgG food intolerance, hair analysis, breath testing, salivary tests (for hormone evaluation) liver detoxification profiles etc. Uses several laboratories.
  • Soft tissue manipulation and deep connective tissue massage.
  • Referral system for x-rays and orthodox investigations when necessary.

As a Journalist

After leaving school (Isleworth Grammar School, Middlesex) and completing National Service, David went straight into journalism. He worked on local, evening and national newspapers, and magazines, including "Sunday Express. and became the medical editor of the medical publications "Doctor" and "Hospital Doctor".

David has contributed to all major health magazines in the UK, including "Here’s Health" and "Healthy Living", and was English editor of "Bestways" the US health magazine.

He was the founder co-editor of the British Journal of Phytotherapy and is now editor of the British Naturopathic Journal (which is indexed on AMED, the British Library database).

David has also edited, written and revised several health books and herbals for the publishers, Foulsham (of Cippenham, Berkshire, UK):

He also re-wrote a series of books on Skin Problems, Stress and Tension, Arthritis and Rheumatism..

David is the author of the "All About" series of books on the naturopathic and herbal approach to various conditions including: "Hiatus Hernia"; "Irritable Bowel Syndrome"; "Menopause"; and "Asthma". All these books are now available in the UK through the public library system.

As a medical journalist David regularly contributes medical columns and features to professional medical and allied medical journals.
